Now that Jackie was home full-time, she spent nearly all her energy on the children. Her days were packed with endless chores: preparing meals, doing laundry, and constantly caring for their baby. It was exhausting, and this dinner was supposed to be a break from it all.
She knew her husband was attractive—she’d always known that. But tonight had reminded her just how many eyes were on him. As she looked around the restaurant, she realized they had been getting glances all evening, and she couldn’t help but wonder if there was more behind those looks.
This dinner out was her one chance to feel like herself again. Jackie had put on makeup, a nice dress, and for once didn’t have formula stains or a toddler on her hip. Even though the kids were a bit fussy, it was still better than the chaos at home.
She had hoped her husband would see her in a new light tonight—the woman he had fallen in love with before kids and chores and routines took over. But instead of sharing a meaningful evening, he was staring at a mysterious note. Her heart sank.
