Since 1977, they’ve been cheering on the team in red and white. Their outfits and movements symbolize the same strength as the Cardinals’ mascot – a small bird with a big impact.

These cheerleaders are showing their “game face” – and it looks more like a horror show than a sporting event! With crazy grins and sparkling eyes, they look like they were just cast from a horror movie. But how did this mixed group come about?

Cheerleading was once purely a male domain. It wasn’t until World War II that women moved in – and today, mixed teams are simply part of the scene. The University of Minnesota was a real pioneer here. Diversity brings more power to the cheering squad!
